LOVE THE SKIN YOU’RE IN

Our skin is extremely diverse and complex, in fact, it’s the largest organ of the human body. Not only does the skin protect internal organs, it also outlines one’s physical appearance. Doctor Katina and the team at Lifestyle Medical are skin and facial aesthetics experts and they understand how important it is to love the skin you’re in.

Located at 64 King William Road, Lifestyle Medical strives for subtle, long-lasting results by treatments that are conducted in a safe and comfortable environment. Lifestyle Medical Registered/Cosmetic Nurse, Morgan, has extensive experience in the cosmetic and nursing industries (safe to say she knows a thing, or two).

Many benefits come from looking after your skin as it helps prevent acne, uneven skin tone, fine lines and dullness. Skin rejuvenation consists of several techniques that manage these concerns and help slow down the aging process. It’s important to understand that, “looking after your skin is not a once off procedure, and to achieve optimal, long-term results, consistent maintenance is paramount,” explains Morgan.

Lifestyle Medical offers an extensive range of skin rejuvenation treatments to ensure your skin is looking and feeling its best, no matter your age!

Treatments include:

  • Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers
  • Cosmedical diamond microdermabrasion
  • Dermal Needling
  • Plasmage (Fractional Plasma used to boost stimulation process of the tissue)
  • LED Light Treatment
  • IPL (intense pulse light) therapy
  • Specified facials suited to different skin types and needs

For years, there’s been a huge stigma associated with anti-wrinkle injections and only recently has there been a shift in people’s perceptions, with society becoming more accepting of cosmetic treatments. Anti-wrinkle injections work by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles working. The product is injected directly into the muscle causing temporary paralysis. Which in turn, helps stop the formation of lines on the skin due to muscle use. Morgan reassures clients that, “anti-wrinkle injections are a very safe procedure, when performed by a skilled Doctor or Registered Nurse. There’s no down time and results are noticeable anywhere between 48 hours – 2 weeks, with results lasting up to 3-4 months.”

According to Morgan, it’s best to start anti-wrinkle injections from the age of 25. Young you may think, but, “a lot of people don’t understand that anti-wrinkle injections are actually more beneficial as a preventive as it stops the static lines before they permanently form,” says Morgan. Anti-wrinkle injections are extremely affective and are used not only for aesthetic purposes – they “assist with the severity of migraines, jaw clenching, excessive sweating, uncontrollable blinking, muscle rigidity and an over active bladder,” says Morgan.

Having an at-home skin care regime is crucial to healthy, glowing skin. Investing in products with scientific research behind them will make a significant difference in the overall appearance of your skin. Morgan encourages daily sunscreen use, “it’s so important to protect our skin from UV rays and environmental radicals to prevent over all aging.” It’s extremely important to wash, cleanse, tone and moisturise your face daily and “never go to bed without removing all make-up,” says Morgan. Make-up clogs the pores that don’t allow the skin to breathe, resulting in breakouts/acne.

Lifestyle Medical stocks and highly-recommends Skin Ceuticals and Medik8 products. Both ranges are a cosmeceutical range, offering a bridge between prescription-based products and over-the-counter cosmetics. They’re also both backed by medical science that supports their efficacy. We also stock Glo Minerals pressed powder mineral make up, “which is the ONLY makeup I wear after having skin treatments,” says Morgan.
