Move Aside Monochrome: How to Introduce Colour to the Home in 2019
When it comes to home décor and interior styling, most of us don’t have the time (nor the creative eye) to renovate an entire space. Fortunately, the experts from Mosmo Living have let us in the loop with what colours and styling accessories are on-trend for 2019. These features can be incorporated in subtle additions, to ensure your home is vibrant and inviting all year round.
The new season is taking a moodier, more sophisticated approach to the Spring/Summer palette. “We are seeing a trend in navy blue and purple coming through” shares Mosmo Living’s resident interior designer, Melissa, “this is juxtaposed against pastel pinks, minty greens and baby blues which will also feature prominently in the upcoming seasons.” As always, neutral elements are a must-have with timeless greys and contrasting whites featuring strongly alongside natural products, such as warm timbers, in most interior spaces.
For bathrooms, trends are moving away from coloured feature tiles, with basins and tapware becoming the focal point of the bathroom in 2019. “Tapware in brushed metallics are big for bathrooms, with coloured baths and basins also playing a role” Melissa says.
When looking to add a pop of colour to the home, cushions, rugs, towels and artwork are the best way to introduce colour to a neutral scheme. Melissa uses simple, statement pieces to incorporate elements of the new season, without compromising the feel of the home. “These pieces can easily be swapped in and out as trends and tastes change” she adds.
For those of us who aren’t style savvy, Melissa shares her top three decorating tips. “I live by these rules when I approach design” she says, “anyone can create on-trend, inspired interiors by following these guidelines: simplicity is the key, add your own personality and style, and be prepared to invest in feature pieces to act as the feature of your interior spaces.”
When you’re unsure where to go with your styling, or your home requires a total refurbishment, seek the help of a professional. “We understand every element of interiors and know what works” says Melissa, “professional input can eliminate costly mistakes and you know you’ll get a picture-perfect result every time.”
By investing in key pieces, following trends, trusting your own taste and enlisting an expert, you can bring colour and life to your home in 2019.
