The messy, beach hair, just-got-out-of-bed look is out and glossy, stylish waves are in this summer, and just in time for wedding season!
According to Alex Totani, owner of FON Hair Salon on King William Road the best thing about this easy and sophisticated look is that you don’t need to have super clean hair to pull it off.
“Wedding hair waves are on trend at the moment for long hair, and are also ideal for a short hair styles when ladies have a little less to work with,” Alex says.
“The trick to these beautiful waves is a small tong and hair that isn’t too clean.
“We ask our ladies to shampoo, conditioner and treat their hair the day before their event so that their hair is clean but has had time to establish its own natural oils overnight.
Alex says that she then uses three main products from the her Davines product range to get the perfect look.
Add texture:
Before we start styling I like to run our Davines Dry Texturiser through the hair first to give it the consistency I need to work the hair.
Wave away:
To incorporate the wave, I part the top and bottom layer of hair and work my way around the face with the tongs twisting medium sized sections around the tong from root to tip. Once the bottom layer is complete I work through the top until the head is covered in loosely layered curls.
Shine on:
Once all of the hair is twisted and curled I’ll loosen it up by running my fingers through the hair from root to tip, finishing it with Davines Shine Spray. It’s such a great product for providing the perfect amount of gloss for all the insta #wedding shots!
Stay put:
Because we’re often doing wedding styles in the morning and they have to last all day and into the night, I like to finish the style with Davines invisible no gas spray. It’s the concrete to our creations, and will hold the look all day without looking stiff and crunchy.
